Hand in hand with robot & co.
iCram, an automated guided vehicle (driverless transport system), transports various goods, placed in our standard bins from one department to another, ordered via a web-based interface. In the first expansion stage, loading is still carried out manually with the robot being able to transport six different containers or a total load of 50 kg. Its top speed is 1.8 metres per second, i.e. 6.48 km/h, and it handles approx. 35 transports a day. As a result, iCram saves our employees approx. 1 to 1.5 hours of transport time each day.
iCram is able to independently access the released basement as he is programmed to call the elevator and also to dial the target basement autonomous. Consequently, he is able to completely independent process the orders as well as to operate the different destinations.
In a further, probably largest phase, it will be possible to automate the loading and unloading process. For this purpose, the departments will be adapted accordingly, thereby allowing conveyor belts and roller conveyors to be installed.
Thanks to the competent assistance of our employees in exploiting the optimisation potential of iCram, complete automation of internal transport routes should be possible within the next 2 - 3 years. And who knows, maybe CEDES will then have more of these hard-working electronic helpers.
